From the ashes of the legendary League of Gentlemen FC, the finest football team ever to grace the killing fields of Surrey and South London, has risen the Old Leagonians Cricket Club. Dedicated to continuing the tradition of heavy drinking, drug abuse and sporadic and spontaneous violence that made our forefathers so notorious, we are aware we walk in the footsteps of gods. The legend continues. Lock up your daughters. You have been warned.
Established on a whim, by several drunks in late 2002, we have somehow completed seven seasons. Playing primarily at our home ground at Fortress Alexandra in Epsom we have managed to remain incapable of beating all but the very weakest of opposition. Ignoring the fact that great teams need great leaders we have appointed a procession of inept and inadequate captains. Like some sad old punched out boxer we have staggered blindly from one thrashing to the next. Its made gruesome viewing. Happily there has been the odd high along the way and we continue to live in hope. Next year out of complete desperation we have appointed probably the most brainless, lard arsed player ever to pull on the OLCC shirt to lead us into battle. Terry Jordan will attempt to provide some desperately required inspiration in 2010. Its a thankless task and quite frankly the chances of him making any difference are slightly less than zero. Hold on to your hats and try and enjoy the ride!
